Top 10 Films Of The Year
Okay here it is, after some serious contemplating I put together my top 10. First of all I’d just like to say I’m not a professional critic or famous person which means I’m not paid to watch and write about movies so I didn’t see every single major release this year. There are some films I’m yet to see which are coming out next year so the likes of 127 Hours, The...

5 Worst Films of 2010
I was going to write about the year’s best first but I’m extremely tired so I would talk about these pieces of crap that I wasted my time on. The likes of “The Last Airbender” & “The Tourist” don’t even appear here because I didn’t even bother seeing them. So here it goes 5. The Losers Thank God for “Luther” because most of Idris...

I Wish I Cared About Nicki Minaj
twism: Word on the street is that Nicki Minaj is the latest celebrity to have a sex tape circulation around the Internet. Despite the fact that the video is said to be too grainy, it is apparently pretty obvious that the topless woman is Nicki. The video is also said to be made before Nicki became famous and is now being hawked for $100,000. Truth be told, whether or not the tape of her is...

Favreau not returning for "Iron Man 3"
Director Jon Favreau would not be returning for the 3rd installment of “Iron Man”. Favreau is currently finishing up “Cowboys & Aliens” and after that he’ll helm Disney’s “Magic Kingdom”. “Iron Man” was so personal to Favreau and I remember how he fought the studio to get Robert Downey Jr. so I can’t think of too many...

Golden Globe Nominations Thoughts & Predictions:...
Best Television Series – Comedy Or Musical 30 Rock (NBC) The Big Bang Theory (CBS) The Big C (Showtime) Glee (Fox) Modern Family (ABC) Nurse Jackie (Showtime) No “Community”, no “Parks and Recreation”, total bullshit. That said all the nominees are decent, “Glee” has fallen so hard and has become so terrible it’s embarrassing but it should still be...

Golden Globe Nominations Thoughts & Predictions:...
Best Mini-Series Or Motion Picture Made For Television  Carlos (Sundance Channel) The Pacific (HBO) Pillars Of The Earth (Starz) Temple Grandin (HBO) You Don’t Know Jack (HBO) Very very tough category, HBO produce some world class TV movies & miniseries worthy of cinema. Not to mention “Carlos” which is also brilliant. No offence but I don’t know what...

Golden Globe Nominations Thoughts & Predictions:...
TV nominees were pretty decent, the usual suspects with a couple of deserving new comers. Best Television Series – Drama Boardwalk Empire (HBO) Dexter (Showtime) The Good Wife (CBS) Mad Men (AMC) The Walking Dead (AMC) I watch all shows, like all of them but I think “Breaking Bad” should be there over “The Walking Dead”. Big question is: can anyone stop the “Mad...

Golden Globe Nominations Thoughts & Predictions:...
Best Director – Motion Picture  Darren Aronofsky - Black Swan David Fincher - The Social Network Tom Hooper - The King’s Speech Christopher Nolan - Inception David O Russell - The Fighter David O. Russell basically took Danny Boyle’s place but even all “The Fighter” love can’t win him this. Aronofsky is a a real dark horse but still a long shot....

Golden Globe Nominations Thoughts & Predictions:...
Best Performance By An Actress In A Supporting Role In A Motion Picture Amy Adams - The Fighter Helena Bonham Carter - The King’s Speech Mila Kunis - Black Swan Melissa Leo - The Fighter Jacki Weaver - Animal Kingdom She’s gotten some backlash but I’m a big fan of Mila Kunis and I’m happy for her, this is really tough to call. All are great performances, the HFPA love...

Golden Globe Nominations Thoughts & Predictions:...
This was a weak year for comedies, personally the funniest film I’ve seen this year is “Toy Story 3” but some decisions her are just hilarious. Best Motion Picture – Comedy Or Musical Alice in Wonderland Burlesque The Kids Are All Right Red The Tourist “RED” was good fun but one of the best? Really? “Alice In Wonderland” was below average. I...

Golden Globe Nominations Thoughts & Predictions:...
Predictions in Bold Best Motion Picture – Drama Black Swan The Fighter Inception The King’s Speech The Social Network Pretty much expected, the only change that could have happened was “127 Hours” in place of “The Fighter” but the HFPA seem to love David O. Russell’s inspirational underdog tale. I expect “The Social Network” to win this come...

Golden Globe Nominations
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominations for the Golden Globes this morning. Leading with 7 nominations was “The King’s Speech” followed by “The Social Network” & “The Fighter” with 6 each, “Black Swan”, “Inception” & “The Kids Are All Right” all got 4 nominations. The HFPA have really...

Another celebrity couple bites the dust...
Hollywood divorce lawyers must be really cashing in this year. “Dexter” stars Michael C. Hall & Jennifer Carpenter have filed for divorce. Apparently they’ve been separated for a while. Carpenter plays Dexter’s foul mouthed sister Debra on the show. I just hope things on set won’t be too awkward cos they have great chemistry.

The New York Film Critics Circle have released their picks for the year and “The Social Network” came out tops again. At this rate it is definitely the film to beat at the Oscars. But I’m quite shocked at the decision to snub Aaron Sorkin for Best Screenplay, that was awarded to Lisa Cholodenko for “The Kids Are All Right”. Also on “Kids”, I’m happy...

Sticking up for "The Social Network"
Before The Social Network came out, film bloggers and critics couldn’t wait. The leaked script only intensified excitement about the film. David Fincher directing was the major factor in the filmhead excitement. Now the film has been out for about 2 months and I know this is the 100th time I’m saying this but it is the BEST film of the year. When it was initially screened most...

Darren Aronofsky’s “Black Swan” which I cannot wait to see has 12 nominations including Picture, Director, Actress for Natalie Portman & Supporting Actress for Mila Kunis. Quick one: Why "Narnia" is no "Potter"
The disappointing box office takings of the 3rd Narnia film has many people wondering why a franchise once touted as the one to take over from Harry Potter has fallen so fast. I think the main fault is that Narnia is and would always be a kiddie film but over the years not only have the cast of Harry Potter matured, the tone and subject matter of the films have become darker and more grown up. ...
